Several days ago I asked followers on Facebook for their thoughts on why I chose this photo for the cover of my book. Their responses included: surrender, praise to God, open heart and mind toward God's plan, beauty shining through trials, the cross, and more. I loved hearing those responses!

Here are the reasons why I chose this:

This is my stance - you might see me standing like this during worship at church or when I'm out for a run - this is my position of saying "Yes, God, I choose YOU and Your ways even though I don't like what I'm going through." I'm choosing HOPE and I'm choosing to embrace the Giver of life. When I see those trees in winter - looking dead and lifeless - I am reminded that they will produce life again - in due time, in the right season.

Do I feel all these things all of the time? No way.

Do I believe what I'm saying enough to write it down and share it with the world? Yes.
