The Sun Will Come Out (Reflections on Clouds and Negative Thinking)

Am I the only one who feels depressed when every day is cloudy and rainy? I feel desperate for sunshine. We're about 14 days into a rainy streak, with 2 partial days of sunshine that I can recall.

It's easy for me to start feeling discouraged about life when clouds are hanging over my head. I start to listen to satan's whispers.

You'll never see the sun again.
It will always be like this.
These things you're hoping and praying for aren't going to happen.

Yeah, the weather affects my moods.

Today I remembered a paragraph I wrote in my book Embracing Hope During Infertility and thought I'd share it here to encourage you and me both.

"While writing this book, I ran my first half marathon. It took place on an overcast, cool September morning, which was ideal weather for a race. Despite the cloudy skies, I ran those thirteen miles with my sunglasses perched on top of my head just in case the sun came out. Nearing the finish line I thought about how I hadn’t needed sunglasses for a moment, yet keeping them close on a cloudy day demonstrates faith. I believed that the sun would come out again, therefore I kept my shades with me. Faith is believing that the sun will come out again, even when clouds cover the sky. Faith is believing that God is able to give us children, even when it doesn’t seem possible."

Instead of believing the devil's lies, I'm choosing to tell myself the truth.

The sun will come out again.
We can endure the hardships we're facing.
God always has been faithful and good, and He always will be faithful and good.
It is possible for us to have children.
God is able to provide above and beyond our basic needs.
He truly can do more than we ask or imagine.

Will you choose to put your hope in God with me? Even in difficult circumstances? Even when all you can see in the natural are clouds? (Because God's perspective is different than ours. Kind of like I described in this post.)
