5 Reasons Why You Should Visit David's Tent

David's Tent is a gathering of people singing and worshipping God through music continually, 24 hours a day, in the heart of Washington, DC. You can find their location and more information on their website http://www.davidstentdc.org/. I live in the DC area and I enjoy going to the tent and joining in worship when I am able. Here are 5 reasons why you should check it out!

1) Because the King is on the throne. Despite anything and everything happening in Washington DC and in American politics, David's Tent reminds me that God is on His throne. It's a tent. It's moveable - in fact, it has moved many times in the past year. Situated among the massive buildings and monuments in DC is a little white tent, and any time of day or night, you'll find someone in there making music to the King of Kings.

2) It's a history making song. On September 11, 2015, they started worshipping with a goal of 400 days of continual music to the King. Now they've decided to continue beyond election day into the foreseeable future. Has this sort of continual worship happened before, especially in a nation's capital city?

3) It's awe-inspiring. I enjoy walking around DC. The historical monuments represent the past, the hustle and bustle of people represent the future. Stepping into David's Tent is a holy and peaceful place right in the middle of it all.

4) Join with worshippers from near and far, singing to the One who spans all time and space. People have come from all over the United States and all over the world to participate in this continual song. And I love that it's simply that - a song of worship. It's not a performance. Most of the time it's not even about somebody "leading worship." It's people, singing and playing instruments for the sole purpose of worship!

5) Because God is worthy. He's worthy of all of our praise!

If you live in the DC area, you should make the time to visit the tent. (Hint: go late in the evening - it's easier to find parking.) If you'll be visiting DC as a tourist or business person, take a moment to stop by the tent. Currently it's just beside the World War II Memorial near the Washington Monument.
