Heavenly Perspective

Looking out the window this morning, I see gloom, and I really hate gloomy days.
I snapped this picture back in January and wrote the following on Instagram:
"This is the part of my morning commute where I'm often gazing at the sun peeking through, while pondering how great God is and how wonderfully He bursts forth into our world. Then there are days that look like this. I fell asleep last night stressed by book publishing problems and woke up this morning to discover new problems. I'm exhausted. I can't SEE hope through the clouds. However, a lesson I've learned over and over again in the past 11 years is that GOD is still GOOD regardless of our circumstances. Even when we can't see anything hopeful because of the fog hovering around us HE can still see and HE is still faithful. He is GOOD and He is FAITHFUL and that's what matters."

Sometimes I look at the sky and I think,
"Oh God, You're SO GREAT! Look at what You have done!"

Like in these moments:

These pictures that I snap with my phone's camera don't fully capture God's beauty, but I'm sure you get the idea.

Sometimes He shows me pictures in the clouds that I can only describe as "breakthrough."

It's like HEAVEN is peeking out from the clouds!

And then there are rainbows:

Not too long ago, I was flying home from a trip. Looking out the window of my seat in the plane, I saw a rainbow as we landed at the airport:
It was beautiful.

My final flight of a very long trip brought me home to Washington, DC, early one morning. I fell asleep as the flight took off, and awakened an hour into the flight, hearing the sounds of another passenger clicking pictures with their phone. I looked out the window and saw this:
This is what I imagine God sees from His Heavenly perspective. (Of course, He is omnipresent-everywhere), but Nahum 1:3 paints this picture:
"Clouds are the dust of His feet."

God's perspective is so much bigger. Not only is He walking through the gloomy days with me, but He is enthroned in Heaven, simply resting His feet on that cloud cushion.

I see this and whine to Him about the trials in this life:

He sees THIS. He sees the other side. He sees the big picture. He created me, He created the clouds, and He wants to walk with me through every moment in this life.

In this long battle with infertility, He walks with me.
In lonely seasons, He walks with me.
When I'm afraid, He is there.
In financial hardships, He walks with us, and He provides.

Whatever your trial may be, know that the Maker of those clouds is not just flying above the clouds, but He is walking with you through the valleys and the struggles.
He is so much greater than our circumstances - and He is always good.
