Sometimes life just rolls along feeling normal... and other times it feels a little overwhelming. December and June often feel like overloaded months for me. Both are transitional times of the year, and times when I'm asking God for fresh direction and help! This month is one of those months when I'm asking God to help me get through each day, because most are full of busyness and unknown situations, leaving little time for dream-chasing and routine (both of which I love).
I am a nanny for four children... and this is the month that their school year wraps up. Summertime just intensifies my work days. I certainly welcome summertime weather and activities... but my days are much more full.
I traveled for the first 5 days of June and will travel for the first few days of July. I enjoy visiting friends and family, but packing and traveling and unpacking interrupts my routine... and the more I understand myself, the more I realized that I am a person who likes her ROUTINE! I like schedules, plans, and order in my day-to-day life!
June, however, is full of emotion and busyness!

This month marks our 7 year anniversary of trying to get pregnant. That in itself is a weight on my emotions. Check out this blog post about infertility being like pushing a boulder up a mountain. I'm not trying to be a downer here... but that blogger sure hit the nail on the head portraying the emotions of infertility. Our infertility journey is always on my mind, even though I don't share real-time updates with many people. (I do share a lot here though.)
I am making new friends! I'm totally an extrovert. I like to be alone to write, and I "turn into a pumpkin" at 10 pm but I enjoy spending my days with people - including new friends!

However, my best friend from the past few years is moving away. The Washington DC vicinity is a very transient area so people move in and out all the time. But I am sad to see my BFF go. She has been a listening ear to me for four and a half years. I guess we will have to start talking on the phone more often! One of the children I take care of was in tears today about a friend moving away. I joined her - because saying good-bye to friends is a reason for sadness. :(
My husband and I are excited to be hosting a high school student from Europe for a visit this summer!
For the past few months I have been writing a book. It is a short book, intended for Christians who want to publish a book but don't know how to go about it. I had great momentum in my writing last month, then my June schedule knocked me off track. I made some progress this past weekend and look forward to more moments of silence when I can focus on writing. I hope to release that book within the next few months, and God-willing, one more toward the end of this year.
As I transition from school year into summertime mode, I hope that my week days will be filled with sunshine and socializing. I hope that my weekends are filled with time working on my writing projects (and quality time with loved ones).
I know that there is more going on, in your life and in mine. In this very busy season I am thankful for a God who is more than enough, who provides all of my needs. He provides finances, friendships, free time, sunshine, and babies. I'm trusting Him to provide all that I need!
PS And I'm totally enjoying my "letter board" that I bought this week. Good-bye chalkboard trend, hello letter board! Now I can put little plastic letters on felt to make images for my blog posts! Who needs digital designs anyway? :)
