I work full time, nannying four children. That alone equals a busy summer! My husband and I welcomed a teenager from Europe to stay with us for a couple of weeks this summer. In July, we found out that we are expecting a baby, something we've asked God for these past 7+ years! (Read our announcement here! I've written a lot about infertility over on www.hopeduringinfertility.com.)
August was busy with daily life, church involvement, hosting out-of-town family one weekend, and me traveling for a girls' getaway another weekend. All of these things were challenging with the nausea and fatigue that joined me that month! However, August was the first month we were able to see our tiny baby on an ultrasound!
September included a trip to North Carolina to celebrate my parents' 40th anniversary! I then spent a week at the beach with my parents, siblings, and our growing families. Back home again, still working full time, we also hosted a string of out-of-town guests before traveling once again to visit my husband's family. (One challenge we face by living in the Washington DC area is that it takes us over 6 hours driving time to visit our families... and those drives, although they're full of quality time together, are exhausting.)
It's October now, and I'm hopeful that life will settle happily into a smooth routine of work and home life, allowing me the time to pursue my passion: writing. I'm glad to have reached the second trimester, and I have a goal of finishing some blog posts and BOOKS as soon as possible! Because I know that this spring when our first baby arrives, my life will be forever changed.

Hi, I’m Betsy, and I live in the Washington, D.C. area with my husband, Mike. We have been married since 2008, and look forward to the arrival of our first baby in 2018! We enjoy
exploring new cities together on foot and doing life as a team.
I write because I feel called and I enjoy it, and I hope that my words point you toward God! My first book, Embracing Hope During Infertility is intended to infuse hope into your heart! My second book, although written for children, will point you toward the goodness of God, even in the darkest times.
You can learn more about me here. I would love for you to connect with me by following my Hope During Infertility Facebook page or my Betsy Herman, Writer Facebook page. I’m also on Instagram and Twitter as @lovethatbetsy.
