November: What I've Been Up To

As I sit here in my favorite writing spot, I realize that I haven't posted as many blog posts as I would like to. I admire people who blog consistently. I want to be like those who write a post to recap life each month. Although part of me wants to be more like them (consistent bloggers), the fact is, there are other things I've been doing with my time!

Here's a little November 2017 update:

Thanksgiving seemed to come earlier this year than it does most years - which makes me happy. I don't feel like there is a rush between now and Christmas! Also, my husband and I decided to not travel this Thanksgiving, and it was refreshing for us to be at home for a four-day weekend. Here are the two biggest projects I've been working on in November:

I'm close to finishing the writing of a book! This book is intended for anyone who dreams of writing a book but doesn't know how to go about it. I feel like the doctor in this cartoon when I meet people who tell me they want to write a book, so I've written a resource called Write Your Story, which is a map to guide you through the process of sitting down to write, refining and editing your work, publishing, and marketing. I believe it will also help those who feel bogged down by common hurdles. My intended audience is Christian writers, yet I hope that the practical tips in this book will speak to everyone.

We just found out that our baby due in April is a girl! I've been writing about infertility for quite a few years now, since it took us 7 years to become pregnant with this little miracle. This week has been full of rejoicing and preparing. I'm about halfway through the second trimester, and I'm thankful to have the energy to tackle the decluttering/ rearranging/ setting up of the crib (well, my husband did all the work on that one!), and preparing the baby's room. We are so grateful to God, so blessed to welcome this child, and so full of joy as we anticipate her arrival. Looking at our baby pictures, I wonder what this little one will be like. I thought I'd share a photo of me as a toddler, enjoying a cookie on a hike.
