As I wrap up the publication process of my latest book Write Your Story: Straightforward Steps for (Finally) Writing and Publishing Your Book, I am freshly inspired by several songs that I want to share with you today.
A line in this song reminds me that God is the One who has inspired me to write and God is worthy of all the glory. "For from You are all things and to You are all things..." We sang those words at the first writing conference I attended, and they still echo in my ears when I think about what it means to be a Christian writer. You can listen to "Worthy of it All" here:
A song I reference in Write Your Story reminds me that I am called to lead, even as an indie-author - even if I feel a bit insecure about it. I believe that if you're a writer, you're a leader as well. Your written words will shape and direct someone else's life - it's likely you'll influence many lives with your words. Let the words of this song speak to you, for you are a Pioneer. I listened to this song countless times while writing Write Your Story. In fact, in the fall of 2017, I was pregnant, not feeling well, and tired, but wanting to re-ignite this project to finish it before our baby arrived. Awaken the Dawn, a Christian conference, took place on the mall of Washington D.C. Due to travel plans, my husband and I attended for just a couple of hours - and Rick Pino sang Pioneer, reminding me that whether or not I feel like it, whether or not I think I have the time, whether or not I have the ability - if God has called me to do something, He'll give me the strength to do it. As a writer, I'm a pioneer, and so are you. Listen here:
Several years ago I was navigating the process of writing and indie publishing my first book, and it happened to be an incredibly personal memoir. I turned to God time and time again with a plea for help, and one song that became my prayer was "God I Look to You".
Turn on the music, turn your heart toward your Creator, and sit down to write!
The best way to keep up with my writing is an occasional email from me! Here's how you can sign up:
I write because I feel called and I enjoy it, and I hope that my words point you toward God! My first book, Embracing Hope During Infertility is intended to infuse hope into your heart! My second book, although written for children, will point you toward the goodness of God, even in the darkest times. My third book, Write Your Story is being released this month.
You can learn more about me here. I would love for you to connect with me by following my Hope During Infertility Facebook page or my Betsy Herman, Writer Facebook page. I’m also on Instagram and Twitter as @lovethatbetsy.
